Pro-Tech and Mike "Whiskers" Allen have been friends for over 20 years. Back before the Pro-Tech days when Dave used to buy and sell a lot of custom knives, many a Whiskers custom autos did he sell. It's great that all these many years later they are able to offer this fantastic Pro-Tech/Whiskers collaboration knife! Upon first glance, there is nothing about the Magic 2 to make you suspect it's an auto. There is no button nor any other sign on the handle signifying a way to open this blade. The trick is to use the palm of your hand and slide the bottom of the presentation scale toward the blade while making sure you're firmly holding onto the pocket clip and pow! Once deployed, you have a very TR-4-like profile, which is great because that happens to be our favorite of all the Pro-Tech models. The action is crisp and authoritative yet not overly snappy to jump out of your hand upon deployment. The Magic is a hidden gem in the knife industry and the Magic 2 hopes to turn that around and make it more mainstream, pairing an awesome knife with an innovative feature that is absolutely one-of-a-kind.
