Bowen Knife Co. was started in 1973 in Blackshear, Georgia. The story goes that entertainer Billy Joel wanted a knife he could carry on stage & contacted Blackie Collins. Supposedly Blackie designed the knife but because of the leather making involved, sold the design to Bowen.
This particular belt knife hails from sometime in the mid 70's and was produced by Bowen Knife Co. for Collins Bros. Produced out of a single piece of chonky 0.25" 440C Stainless steel. The belt at some point wore out and has become a sheath for this vintage knife, however replacement belts are still available from Bowen Knife Co. that will work with this dagger.
