With no lock present simply keep your thumb on the hand forged tang extension to keep the knife from closing. In addition, the pivot is made tight to keep the blade from closing quickly on your fingers. You will want your fingers away from this edge! The hand forged DNH7 blade is differentially hardened and provided exceedingly sharp.
