The new Bark River Shinigami Tanto is very unique. They kept the traditional blade shape of an authentic tanto but made it full tang. The addition of the bolster made it even more unique. It is a blend of traditional and modern styles. The gentle sweep of the cutting edge is exactly the same as tantos made in the pre-15th Century examples. The length of the blade is the average length of a forearm of the people in that time period. That is how blade lengths were measured for each person commissioning one as part of their set of swords. The balance point is right on the bolster, and the blade is very quick in the hand. The Shinigami is ruggedly built and has a quick taper point.
